Monday 11 Dec. [Actually December 10]

Fine weather again. Light SSE’ly breeze and −28°. Sometimes quite clear. Sometimes a passing patch of mist. A lovely big ring round the sun.

A meridian altitude gave 1 minute less than dead reckoning. Made up for it by doing 17 instead of 16 nautical miles. Now lying at 88°56' S. lat. Terrain and going the same. We notice alright that it is hard to work up here on the heights. We’ll get our breath back, if only we win. Oh well, we’ll manage. Looking forward to getting down to normal altitudes some time.
